The Grand LGBTQ Interest Group

Join us for various social activities, including movies, pool parties, potlucks, theater performances, concerts, bowling, dining out, sporting events, etc in The Grand community in Surprise, AZ. Find new opportunities to make friends with LGBTQ residents and allies and connect in our community.

The Grand in Surprise, AZ

The Grand is a 45+ community in the West Valley, Surprise, AZ, just east of the White Tank Mountains (about 24 miles northwest of Phoenix).

History

Seeing the need for a visible presence in The Grand community, the LGBTQ Interest Group was formed in March 2016 with the support of our Sun City Grand community HOA. Sun City Grand changed its name to The Grand to differentiate it from the other Sun City communities.

The response to the group formation was fascinating, with many members joining the group within the first three months. Since that time, we have continued to grow. We are primarily a social group and gather monthly for potlucks, restaurant lunches, dinners, and other off-campus meeting venues and activities. We intend to build a community and create opportunities for LGBTQ people and our allies to meet, connect, and support one another. The group is comprised of an equal number of men and women.

Our Mission

The Grand LGBTQ Interest Group strives to create a community and enhance the quality of life for its members and allies who are residents of Sun City Grand. Together with our Sun City and Sun City West LGBTQ neighbors, we seek to be a positive presence in our region and throughout Arizona.
