Surprise Arizona’s No Kings Protest Part II
‘On October 18, 2025, massive No Kings protests occurred across the U.S. and globally, organized by progressive groups like the 50501 Movement to oppose the current president’s policies, with millions protesting alleged monarchical behavior, increased immigration enforcement, and cuts to education/environment, viewing them as threats to democracy and constitutional rights. This was the second major wave of these rallies, following similar events in June 2025, and involved peaceful demonstrations with large turnouts. An estimated 7 million people participated in over 2,700 “No Kings” rallies in all 50 states and other countries.’
Why Do People Wear Inflatable Costumes to Protest?
‘Protesters wore inflatable costumes at No Kings rallies to use humor and absurdity as a political tool, countering the narrative that they were violent extremists by appearing playful, deflating tension, and making it difficult for authorities to portray them as a threat, as seen with the viral Portland frog and other animal suits. This tactic, inspired by earlier protests, drew attention, kept the mood light, and emphasized the peaceful nature of their dissent against the Trump administration.’
